What drives us
We love precision and provide the highest quality
Our customers can rely on the fact that their rolls are always processed at the same high quality. We achieve this because we are a family business that plans and acts for the long term.
We have been working on the perfect surface for three generations
Our customers benefit from this experience
Since Wilhelm Bauer founded the company in 1945, we have developed into a globally acknowledged specialist in roll processing.
When a roll arrives at our plant in Hanover, we analyze its condition, compare it with the customer’s requirements and find the right way to process it. Every roll is different, every task is different, and this challenges our team to constantly develop new solutions.
When you enter the workshops, you will be impressed by the concentrated and calm atmosphere. Workpieces up to 10,000 millimeters long are constantly turning on the CNC-controlled machine tools, are being ground or polished, supervised by highly skilled machine operators who take as much pleasure in accuracy and precision as a watchmaker.

We have been producing perfect surfaces since 1945
Precision and continuity have been our mission statement since 1945
Since our founding, we have been committed to the greatest possible precision. This is due to the products that are manufactured with the rolls that we finish. These products are usually wafer-thin, such as plastic films for packaging or drive batteries for electric vehicles. Or they are characterized by a variety of different surfaces, for example for furniture films or credit cards. Our customers need rolls that are precisely cylindrical to a thousandth of a millimeter or have a roll face that is optimally defined for production. That is why we have been investing in the best measuring systems since our company was founded. Today, all grinding machines are CNC-controlled and are operated by skilled workers who we carefully select and train. Our employees are our most valuable asset. The fact that most of them stay with us for a very long time is a proof of confidence.

That makes us proud
Rolls that have been processed by us in Hanover are producing on every continent. Crates from all over the world arrive at our plant. Companies from overseas who value our exclusive roll service consider that their rolls are on the road for months until they can be used again in perfect condition. We are established on the international market. Just as Hans Bauer, son of the founder, had planned since the mid-sixties.
We are exotic. Meticulousness and precision drive us
No surprises: Customers who come back years later get the same perfect result every time. This is the reason why they stay loyal to us.
Always the same: Every roll we deliver leaves our factory in perfect new condition. That’s why we guarantee our customers the highest quality.
As ordered: We offer a customized service for every customer. Every roll is different. The way of processing is decided by a team of experts.
Only repetitions: Our team works with the same precision every day. This is how we ensure product quality for our customers.
No limits: We love to exceed the required quality and push the limits of precision further and further.

A team of 60 specialists with individual expertise works continuously on the perfect roll surface.

From Hanover to the world:
We process rollers for customers from all over the world.

We grow sustainably and environmentally consciously at our
Location in Hanover
With the new electroplating facility for electrolytic hard chrome and nickel plating, we are taking a major step towards securing the company’s long-term future in Hanover.

More safety
All chrome tanks are enclosed, access is via a sluice system, supply and exhaust air is channeled separately into the individual housing in a circulation system.

Less energy
An integrated heat recovery system provides energy to heat the supply air. This creates an energy cycle that reutilizes the power lost when heating the electrolyte.

Less traffic
We are combining two plants and will avoid heavy transports of workpieces through residential areas in Hanover in the future.

Fewer emissions
The exhaust air from the electroplating tanks (hexavalent chrome and nickel) is cleaned using modern exhaust air scrubbers and the removed concentrate is returned to the respective tanks. Waste water is not produced during chrome plating.
The newly planned systems will meet current standards in terms of emission minimization, energy efficiency and heat recovery.
